FAQ

Adult-Use & Medical Dispensary

Since January 1st, 2018, High Tides has been permitted to sell cannabis to anyone 21+ with a government-issued ID card. There are no medical recommendation required to enter High Tides or to make purchases.

As we progress along the shifting world of adult-use cannabis sales, there are a lot questions, confusions and uncertainties around how things work. While we are still waiting for plenty of answers ourselves, we want to help clear up confusion that the transition into legality has caused.

Below are some answers to frequently asked questions. We will update this FAQ as new rules and regulations come in from the city and state. In the meantime, please feel free to contact us with any other questions you may have.

Is my name included on a government list? Can I purchase cannabis anonymously?

In 2018, state laws will limit the quantity of cannabis a person can buy per day. Because of this, High Tides is required to scan your ID card. However, your personal information will NOT be stored ANYWHERE. We take privacy very seriously, and your anonymity will be protected.

I have heard that new taxes will lead to higher prices in 2024. Is this true?

Yes. With the legalization of adult-use cannabis, the city and the state increased taxes on cannabis sales at all California dispensaries and delivery services. If you would like to learn more about California Adult-Use Cannabis taxes, please visit California Department of Tax and Fee Administration website.

What is the daily limit that I can purchase in 2024?

State law limits adults to purchase one ounce (28.5 grams) of non-concentrated cannabis (flower), eight (8) grams of concentrated cannabis, and six (6) clones (immature plants) per day.

Are there new potency and dosage limits to edible products in 2024?

Yes. For adult-use sales, no single edible package can contain more than 100mg of THC. Edible products must also contain no more than 10mg THC per serving.

If cannabis is legal in 2024, am I allowed to consume in public?

No. Most public spaces prohibit smoking or vaping cannabis products. This includes the High Tide’s parking lot.

Do all products need to be in child-resistant packaging in 2024?

Not right away, although we will probably see child-resistant packaging guidelines for individual products roll out throughout 2018. Current regulations require dispensaries to provide child-resistant, resealable “exit bags” for customers. At home, it is important to keep your cannabis in a safe spot away from children and pets.

How much cannabis am I allowed to carry with me?

You can carry one ounce of non-concentrated cannabis (flower) and eight grams of concentrated cannabis.

How much cannabis am I allowed to gift to someone?

You can gift one ounce of non-concentrated cannabis (flower) and eight grams of concentrated cannabis at one time.

Is there any change to the driving laws in 2024?

No. Driving under the influence of cannabis is illegal and dangerous.

Can I purchase cannabis if I am 18 or older?

Individuals 18-21 years of age require a Physicians recommendation to purchase cannabis.
